IL10 and bacterial infectious disease: Overall, these observations suggest that, in addition to type I IFN, the SINV-dependent il10 induction measured in SINV + Shigella co-infected fish, given the anti-inflammatory properties of this cytokine, could participate in the increased susceptibility to bacterial infection with the concomitant death and uncontrolled bacterial proliferation observed in SINV + Shigella co-infected fish.
