Given early conflicting results surrounding SGLT inhibition and changes to seizure activity and the increasing use of SGLT2 inhibitors among patients with diabetes, as well as the possibility that SGLT2 inhibitors may decrease seizure activity in pre-clinical models and thus may serve as a potential AED for patients with drug-resistant seizures, we were motivated to conduct this study to further investigate the effects of dapagliflozin on seizure activity in the PTZ murine model for epilepsy. The gene discussed is SLC5A2; the disease is epilepsy.
