Our previous study demonstrated that olmesartan prevented cardiac rupture in mice with MI by modulating growth differentiation factor 15 and p53 [34], while Koike et al. reported that olmesartan increased the survival rate in rats with MI [35], and Taniyama and his colleagues demonstrated that olmesartan played an anti-fibrotic role by up-regulating hepatocyte growth factor in cardiomyopathic hamsters [36].
