To confirm that this correlation was specific to CSF1R sensitivity and not more generally to overall drug sensitivity, we compared the CD14+ depletion sensitivity ratio against sensitivity to two small-molecule inhibitors that exhibit recurrent efficacy in CLL—ibrutinib, which targets Bruton’s tyrosine kinase (BTK), and idelalisib, which targets phosphoinositide 3-kinase delta (PI3Kδ). The gene discussed is CD14; the disease is B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
