GAS6 and deep vein thrombosis: One such alternative pathway for the modulation of thrombosis and hemostasis is the TAM family of receptors tyrosine kinases (TYRO3, AXL, and MERTK) and their ligands, including growth arrest-specific gene 6 (GAS6) and Protein S. It has been shown that inhibition of the GAS6/TAM pathway decreases platelet activation responses and protects mice against arterial and venous thrombosis, without increasing bleeding (3, 4) thereby representing a promising therapeutic target for novel anti-platelet agents.
