In a similar study, Martins et al. (69) demonstrated that a chimeric protein, displaying murine and human MHC class I- and II-specific epitopes from four proteins (LiHyp1, LiHyp6, LiHyV, and HRF) identified in an immunoproteomic study of visceral leishmaniasis antigens, was protective against heterologous challenge with L. amazonensis in a murine model. This evidence concerns the gene TPT1 and visceral leishmaniasis.
