Besides EMP1, EMP2 has been shown to be upregulated in more than 70% of both serous and endometrioid ovarian cancers [32], and to enhance tumor growth of glioblastoma by promoting angiogenesis, partially by increasing vascular endothelial growth factor-A expression in glioblastoma cells [33, 34].
