TRPC5 is expressed in brain regions associated with fear and anxiety, and Trpc5−/− mice show decreased fear behaviour compared to wild-type mice in behavioural tests [76], which was attributed to reduced potentiation of TRPC5 currents by Gq/11-coupled receptors, specifically those stimulated by glutamate and cholecystokinin 2 [76]. Here, TRPC5 is linked to Anxiety.
