The xanthine HC-070, a highly potent and selective inhibitor of both homo- and heteromeric TRPC1/4/5 channels (see Section 3.2.1), reduces currents stimulated by CCK4 in basolateral amygdala in brain slices, and additionally shows anxiolytic and antidepressant effects in mouse behavioural studies, further confirming these channels as promising clinical targets in the treatment of anxiety and depression [67]. Here, TRPC1 is linked to depressive symptom measurement.
