We have previously reported the identification of the shed ectodomains of HAI-1, EpCAM and EGFR in the urine of bladder cancer patients [12–14]; elevated urine levels of the shed ectodomains of EpCAM and EGFR are associated with worse bladder cancer (BC) specific survival [13, 14]. This evidence concerns the gene SPINT1 and urinary bladder carcinoma.
