In our previous oral squamous cell carcinoma study, we also found that overexpression of osteopontin predicts a poor response and survival to cisplatin-based induction chemotherapy followed by CCRT in patients with locally advanced oral squamous cell carcinoma [13], and cisplatin-based induction chemotherapy is one of the standard treatment modalities for patients with locally advanced head and neck squamous cell carcinoma [21].
