Lee et al. [115] showed that Gal-3 was downregulated in cervical cancer tissues compared to normal tissues and gradually decreased in accordance with the histopathologic grades from LSIL (low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions) to HSIL (high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions) and to ISCC (invasive squamous cell carcinomas). The gene discussed is LGALS3; the disease is cervical carcinoma.
