BST1 and ovarian cancer: The finding that 26% of non-MPM malignant or non-malignant effusions had high sCD157 can probably be attributed, on the one hand, to expression of CD157 in certain tumors, such as peritoneal and ovarian cancers [23] (while no information on CD157 expression in breast cancer, lung cancer, kidney cancer and Hodgkin's lymphoma is so far available) and on the other, to the accumulation of proteases in effusions accompanying severe chronic inflammatory disorders.
