Saito et al. [62], in turn, demonstrated that Brazilian green propolis and its three main constituents (3,5-di-O-caffeoylquinic acid, 3,4-di-O-caffeoylquinic acid, and chlorogenic acid) increased the HO-1 (heme oxygenase 1) expression and accelerated Nrf2 nuclear translocation after UVA irradiation (the major cause of human skin aging) in human skin fibroblast cells (NB1-RGB). This evidence concerns the gene HMOX1 and skin aging.
