The treatment of SH-SY5Y cells with the small interfering RNA (siRNA) directed against Nrf2 (Nrf2-siRNA) abolished pinocembrin-induced HO-1 and γ-GCS expression and its protective effects, which suggests that pinocembrin is protective against Parkinson's disease-related neurotoxin 6-OHDA through Nrf2/ARE pathway (Table 2). The gene discussed is NFE2L2; the disease is Parkinson disease.
