Reduced activity of the BChE, when measured at the clinical onset of sepsis, mirrors the activity changes of both conventional (CRP, WBCC, PCT) and novel (IL-4, IL-6, IL-10, TNF-α, MR-proADM) inflammation biomarkers and was validated as a biomarker in the early detection of sepsis by its correlation with several disease severity scores used for patient outcome analysis (APACHE II, SOFA, and SAPS II). This evidence concerns the gene IL6 and Sepsis.
