Yeung et al. revealed that HPV16 E6 takes part in epigenetic regulation of host gene-associated cervical cancer development; HPV16 E6 methylates the promoter region of the host gene of miR-23b, C9, or f3; and downregulated miR-23b enhances c-MET pathway-induced apoptosis of cervical cancer cells [91].
