In the poorly invasive or highly metastatic breast cancer cell lines (MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231, respectively) that we used in our previous studies, we demonstrated that the inhibitory effect produced by SCD1 depletion on the intrinsic and CAF-promoted cancer cell migration was ascribable to the scarcity of oleic acid, the enzyme prevalent metabolic product. This evidence concerns the gene SCD and breast carcinoma.
