Supplementation with vitamin D3 prior to ischemia, in our study, was followed by reduced expression of gp91phox and p47phox subunits in both the cortex and hippocampus, increased expression of p22phox in the cortex and decreased expression of this subunit in the hippocampus, and increased expression of p67phox in the hippocampus. This evidence concerns the gene NCF1 and ischemia.
