In two recent studies using crizotinib, it was determined that this SMI exhibited potent anti-glioma effect in c-MET expressing GBM stem-like cells, consistent with c-MET’s role in maintaining GBM stem-like cell self-renewal capacity in vitro, demonstrating a likely hypothesis and mechanism of action for the effectiveness of crizotinib, not only in JX10UAB and X1016, but also in other xenolines as well32,33. The gene discussed is MET; the disease is glioblastoma.
