In contrast to the hypothesis that the activation of EMT genes might also be responsible for the malignant transformation of glioma cells, our results indicate that the central EMT regulators SLUG and TWIST are exclusively expressed by pericytes/VAMCs of proliferating blood vessels (Figures 1–4) while being absent from glioma cells (Figures 2, 3). The gene discussed is SNAI2; the disease is central nervous system cancer.
