DKK3 is a secreted glycoprotein, highly expressed in the endothelium and muscles,171–174 that is implicated in the differentiation of partially induced pluripotent stem cells.175 Recently, Cheng et al176 demonstrated that the loss of DKK3 attenuates atherosclerosis development in ApoE−/− mice fed with high-fat diet through activation of the β-catenin signaling. This evidence concerns the gene APOE and atherosclerosis.
