Compared with 20 most common mutations in ovarian cancer in the COSMIC database, our cohort showed a markedly higher rate of mutation in BRCA1 and TP53. BRCA1 and BRCA2 are canonical tumor suppressor genes; mutations in these two genes in women are associated with an increased lifetime risk of ovarian cancer (Antoniou et al., 2003). This evidence concerns the gene TP53 and ovarian cancer.
