Recent studies have also demonstrated an increased prevalence of microalbuminuria.4, 15 Thiel et al.15 for example found that albumin to creatinine ratio (ACR) increased from 1.2 ± 2.7 to 1.9 ± 10.7 mg albumin/mmol creatinine in donors, and the prevalence of microalbuminuria increased from 4.8% to 10.4% over 10 years with a strong association with the development of hypertension. Here, ALB is linked to hypertensive disorder.
