Targeted therapies are considered the standard care for the treatment of RCC and include tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) [6], monoclonal antibodies directed against vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) combined with interferon-alpha (IFNα) [7], mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) inhibitors [8] and, most recently, anti-programmed death-1 (PD-1) monoclonal antibody [9]. The gene discussed is MTOR; the disease is renal cell carcinoma.
