Although more studies are required to better understand this LRRK2‐dependent cross talk in PD, the elevated levels of TNF‐α observed at later stages of infection are in agreement with reports showing high concentrations of TNF‐α in the brain and Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) of PD patients (Mogi et al, 1994) and deregulation of inflammation in the context of bacterial infections (Liu et al, 2011; Fava et al, 2016).
