These findings are consistent with other studies evaluating the safety of IV tPA in wakeup stroke patients which revealed no excess in sICH; this study is particularly significant because of the treatment time window used (4.5 hours from awakening) and the use of NCHCT-only patient selection.[6, 13, 15–17] A recent trial of wakeup stroke patients treated with tPA, suggested safety of patient selection by NCHCT. This evidence concerns the gene PLAT and stroke disorder.
