The suppressive effects of B cells in colitis have been demonstrated by TCR-α−/− × Igμ−/− mice lacking B cells spontaneously developing more severe colitis than TCR-α−/− mice [40] and adoptive transfer of IL-10-producing CD1d+CD5+ Bregs inhibiting the DSS-induced intestinal injury in a mouse model [41].
