To increase the accuracy of screening for Lynch syndrome, microsatellite instability (MSI) and immunohistochemistry (IHC) are used in cases with colorectal cancer, and when losses of MLH1 and PMS2 proteins are detected using IHC, universal screening, including BRAF testing and analysis for MLH1 promoter methylation, is recommended [5, 6]. This evidence concerns the gene MLH1 and colorectal cancer.
