In a study with 69 septic patients, the plasma levels of IL-10 were detectable with the ELISA method in heparinized blood in 39 (57%) of the enrolled subjects; the median IL-10 concentration was higher in patients with septic shock (58 pg/mL) in comparison to those with sepsis (11 pg/mL) [43].
