Proteostatic and longevity benefits associated with the inhibition of XPO1 are conserved as they extend beyond nematodes and into a Sod-1-based model of ALS in Drosophila. Our findings are in line with a study in another ALS fly model (C9ORF72) in which KPT-276 was found to reduce neurodegeneration (Zhang et al., 2015). Here, SOD1 is linked to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
