This combination has shown to significantly improve disease-free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS).2,3 Adjuvant therapy with bevacizumab, a humanised anti-VEGF monoclonal antibody, has only demonstrated to improve outcome in patients with metastatic stage IV disease and is therefore currently not recommended in other stages.3–8 However, due to heterogeneity of colon cancer, one could argue that some subpopulations could possibly benefit from targeted therapy in an adjuvant setting.
