Given a recent study showing the radiological similarities between RNASET2 deficiency and CMV with Aicardi–Goutieres syndrome (AGS), another inherited disorder mimicking congenital infection with frontal and temporal cysts and pronounced neuroinflammation (Tonduti et al., 2016), we followed up on our imaging data by investigating the possibility that RNaseT2 KO rats would present with GFAP-positive astrocytes in the hippocampus. Here, GFAP is linked to Aicardi-Goutières syndrome.
