CD276 and cancer: Currently, and despite the high research activity in this field, there is no consensus about DAMPs' immunomodulatory effects (i.e., promoting either antitumor immunity or cancer progression), as well as whether they can be divided based on the timing of their functions on APCs: early-stage effect-related DAMPs, that is, DAMPs inducing chemotaxis, phagocytosis, and proinflammatory cytokine production; or late-stage effect-related DAMPs, that is, DAMPs inducing migration, costimulatory molecules expression, and tumor-associated antigen cross-presentation.
