Our studies confirm these observations and show that the use of digoxin in the treatment of murine B16-F10 melanoma at a dose of 2 mg/kg body weight: reduces level of HIF-1α in tumors of treated mice (the factor is not inhibited but its quantity is significantly reduced), inhibits the growth of tumors, and also, in combination with anti-vascular agent DMXAA, restrains tumor regrowth (compared with mice that received only DMXAA). This evidence concerns the gene HIF1A and melanoma.
