CRISPRa in this experiment identified novel elements within the IL2RA super-enhancer responsible for inducible expression of IL2RA. The ability to study inducible enhancers without needing to know the context in which they are active can be used in the study of immune disease in which enhancers are often only active when stimulated with molecules such as lipopolysaccharide. This evidence concerns the gene IL2RA and immune system disorder.
