The role of IL-6 on Tfh differentiation is supported by the decrease in cTfh observed in rheumatoid arthritis patients treated with an anti-IL-6R blocking antibody, by the role of IL-6 in driving Tfh amplification in murine models of chronic infection, and by the loss of the Tfh population in murine models deficient in B cells (9, 65, 78). Here, IL6R is linked to rheumatoid arthritis.
