CEACAM5 and neoplasm: In preclinical models, anti-CEACAM5 neutralizing antibodies have to been shown to affect cell adhesion, migration, and invasion in vitro, and pre-incubation of tumor cells with these antibodies resulted in decreased metastasis of tumor cells following intrasplenic injection.42 Collectively, these results suggest that CEACAM5 may serve as a tumor and serum biomarker for metastatic progression and may also be a viable therapeutic target.
