some factors like oxidative stress and cytokine receptor-mediated apoptosis cause dopaminergic cell death.39,40 Losing of dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra of the midbrain and accumulation of Lewy bodies are the main neuropathological hallmarks of PD. 41,42 Forming Lewy bodies can activate microglia which produces proinflammatory mediators and ROS, which eventually activates NFkB pathway.   43  NFkB directly affects both dopaminergic neurons of the substantia nigra, and microglia that increases the inflammatory response.   43-45.
