Our estimate for hospital‐diagnosed NAFLD in CKB was comparable to two prospective cohort studies in China which involved 3,913 and 5,770 ultrasound‐detected NAFLD cases and reported ∼60% higher risk of NAFLD associated with diabetes.12, 13 Moreover, we showed that the positive association attenuated with increasing duration of diabetes but persisted even 10 years after diabetes diagnosis. This evidence concerns the gene CKB and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
