The delivery potential of parent apoferritin has been explored and many payload, such as radioisotopes (Hainfeld, 1992), antibiotics (Lown, 1993), alkylating agents (Siddik, 2002), and siRNA (Li et al., 2016), can be loaded into the apoferritin nanocage for tumor-targeted diagnosis and therapy.
