Renal Klotho deficiency is found in many types of AKI such as that induced by ureteral obstruction (Doi et al., 2011), lipopolysaccharide (model of sepsis) (Ohyama et al., 1998), nephrotoxins including cisplatin (Panesso et al., 2014), and folic acid (Moreno et al., 2011). Here, KL is linked to acute kidney injury.
