The L1CAM- IRAK1-MECP2 region, which is a highly complex region spanning ten genes (L1CAM, LCA10, AVPR2, ARHGAP4, NAA10, RENBP, HCFC1, TMEM187, IRAK1, and MECP2) has consistently been identified as being associated with SLE susceptibility in different studies [9–12]. This evidence concerns the gene TMEM187 and systemic lupus erythematosus.
