GAS5 has been reported to be upregulated in cells under growth inhibition caused by starvation and it acts as a tumor suppressor by downregulating oncogenic CDK6 (cyclin-dependent kinase-6) in pancreatic, bladder and gastric cancer cells and involved in G1 phase cell cycle arrest by interacting with transcriptional activator YBX1 in stomach cancer [22, 23]. This evidence concerns the gene GAS5 and gastric cancer.
