Plasma concentrations of S100B and neuron-specific enolase (NSE) are increased in women developing preeclampsia from gestational week 33 and S100B correlates to presence of neurological symptoms in women with preeclampsia.[11–13] There are no previous human studies on the cerebral biomarkers tau and NfL in peripheral blood in pregnancy. The gene discussed is S100B; the disease is preeclampsia.
