In a retrospective analysis comparing several oral antidiabetic medications, Bron et al. [27] reported a significantly decreased risk of hypoglycemia associated with the use of DPP-4 inhibitors and an increased risk of hypoglycemic events among users of insulin, sulfonylureas, and/or other oral diabetes medications (meglitinide and α-glucosidase inhibitors). This evidence concerns the gene DPP4 and diabetes mellitus.
