IL6R and coronary artery disorder: MR studies have demonstrated the causal relevance of IL-6 for risk of CHD,4 and the CANTOS trial has confirmed the reversibility of this excess risk by inhibition of IL-1β that results in lower plasma levels of IL-6 for prevention of CHD.6 While genetic variants encoding IL-6R (resulting in increased plasma levels of IL-6) increase risk of CHD, there was no evidence that direct plasma measurements of IL-6R were linked with CHD in the present study.
