In prostate cancer, the 5′-untranslated region of the TMPRSS2 gene is often translocated to the v-ets avian erythroblastosis virus E26 oncogene homolog (ERG) and ETS variant 1 (ETV1) gene [26], a member of the ETS gene family that is involved in a wide variety of functions, including cell proliferation [29]. This evidence concerns the gene TMPRSS2 and prostate cancer.
