In PCa, promoter hypermethylation is directly involved in silencing of several TSGs, such as APC, GSTP1, RARβ2, RASSF1A, estrogen genes, cell adhesion genes (CD44 and CDH1), cell cycle control genes (CCND2, CDKN1B, and SFN), apoptotic genes (PYCARD, RPRM, and GLIR1), and also androgen receptor (AR) which is involved in progression to CRPC (Jerónimo et al., 2001, 2004; Maruyama et al., 2002; Sasaki et al., 2002; Kang et al., 2004; Yegnasubramanian et al., 2004; Henrique et al., 2007; Carvalho J. R. et al., 2010). The gene discussed is PYCARD; the disease is posterior cortical atrophy.
