TP53 and gastric cancer: Other familial cancer syndromes that have been linked to gastric cancer predisposition include Lynch syndrome, which is characterised by mutations in DNA mismatch repair genes; Peutz-Jeghers syndrome caused by mutations in STK11; and Li-Fraumeni syndrome, which is associated with germline TP53 mutations.2, 7, 8, 9 Diffuse gastric cancer does not appear to be over-represented in these syndromes, although this association has not been comprehensively studied.
