IL6 and Obesity: In a subsample of the Cardiovascular Health in Children III study (CHIC III) [46] it was found that higher levels of VO2max (maximal oxygen consumption) were associated with lower levels of IL-6, independent of obesity; we did not measure aerobic fitness in the present cohort, but we collected information on physical activity and the results from the crude to the adjusted analysis did not change after the inclusion of this covariate.
