Post hoc analysis revealed two factors correlated to HIV infection risk: plasma IgG binding antibodies to variable loops 1 and 2 (V1V2) of gp120 envelope (Env) protein inversely correlated with HIV infection risk among RV144 vaccine recipients, while plasma monomeric IgA binding antibodies to viral Envs directly correlated with risk [16–19]. The gene discussed is ITIH4; the disease is HIV infectious disease.
